Adding Clear Survey Instructions
Adding instructions is a best practice, especially for detailed forms or surveys. Clear instructions help respondents understand what’s expected, which improves accuracy, increases completion rates, reduces confusion and errors, and sets clear expectations.
When writing instructions, consider including:
- Purpose of the form or survey – Explain why you’re collecting the information.
- Estimated time to complete – Helps respondents plan.
- Materials needed – List anything they should have ready before starting.
- Next steps after submission – Tell them what will happen once they complete the form or survey.
