Social media messages are considered a public record in Iowa. We must preserve public records in any form.
Back to topWhy did my account get disconnected?
Account disconnects are the result of normal security protocols implemented by the social media networks CivicPlus archives. The changes described below prompt these networks to require reauthorizing the Social Media Archiving application.
- Archive users can reconnect accounts through links we send through email (all users) or reconnect in the archive (Admins only)
- The password for the Social Media account was changed
Resolution: Follow reconnect links/prompts and enter new login information to reconnect.

Social Media Archiving will send out a series of automated emails prompting the to reconnect. The first email in this series is triggered by the disconnect and sent as soon as possible. It is titled Social Media Archiving: Immediate action required - Please reconnect your account(s).
Clicking the reconnect link sends you the Account Owners list of accounts. Login to reconnect your accounts.
