How to Use Skip and Display Logic to Make Better Surveys

To create surveys that flow well and are effective, choose between Skip Logic and Display Logic.

Skip Logic

  • What it does: Jumps a participant to the next question(s) if their current answer makes those questions irrelevant.
  • When to use it: For simple situations, like sending a participant to the end of the survey if they answer No to a screening question.

Display Logic

  • What it does: Shows or hides entire questions or just certain answer choices based on specific conditions.
  • When to use it: For more complex needs, such as asking a follow-up question only if certain criteria are met, or when visibility depends on data you've already collected or set up (e.g., embedded data or quotas).

Using these tools wisely will improve the survey experience for participants and yield more accurate data for you.
