Purpose

Statistics are typically collections of numbers and text that help draw attention to particularly interesting or important statistical data.

When to Use

Agency Content Managers may choose to showcase statistics when their objective is to emphasize significant or noteworthy data.

Elements of Statistics

  • Title: content limited to 70 characters, working title for section and can hide as option.
  • Statistic number: numerical piece of the statistic.
  • Statistic detail: context for the value and may include inline linking, 120 character max.
  • Can add up to three statistics to the section. Only first is required.
1

Log in to your site

Everyone who writes things on this website has a special title. These titles give them certain abilities, like who can edit, review and publish what. You can ask for a different title or take one away from someone using the user manager.

2

Navigate to /admin/content/micro

This Admin view displays all micro-content on the site and allows authors to sort & filter the list. Authors can edit micro-content types from this view.

Microcontent filter

Microcontent is constrained to items that are typically "placed" elsewhere. For example: microcontent such as accordions, promos, link collections and visual link collections, and statistics are created and then may be utilized throughout the site.

3

Create the statistic and populate it with numbers and text

There are up to three numbers available on any piece of Statistics content, and typically these go well together when connected by a theme.

For example, in an education setting, the statistics might be:

# of high schools, % of students who pass state-level exams, or a text blurb about K-12

Create the statistic as its own content type by clicking through /node/add/statistic.

That statistic may now be placed within other pieces of content such as Basic Pages and Landing Pages.

More Details about the Platform is an example of a Basic Page with an embedded Statistic.

4

Place the microcontent into a Basic Page or a Landing Page

Now that there is microcontent that has its place inside the /admin/content/microcontent menu, you may take that content and place it throughout the site.

As an example, common placements include:
