Social media posts should follow a friendly, approachable voice and tone to all posts. Follow other tips in this style guide for voice, tone, and editorial style for consistency.
Include graphics
Attach images, ideally of our own organization, staff, and events. Include text in the post that describes the image for accessibility. When using Twitter, use the image description for alt text.
Provide links & accessible hashtags
Whenever possible, include an action back to the website, form, etc. in the post. When using hashtags, use camel case to separate words for accessibility. Example: #GetInvolved
Be appropriate
Inappropriate, negative, or hurtful speech and language may be recognized not only by your family and friends, but by employers, colleagues, and potential clients. Play nicely only.
Report abusive or harmful content
Should a member of the online community attempt to leave negative, hurtful feedback on our posts β and itβs determined this person is intentionally causing harm β their posts will be removed. Do not interact and βfeed the trolls.β Report any abusive or harmful comments.
