The State of Iowa has purchased a small number of licenses for Shutterstock for agencies to use. All agencies can submit a Service Desk request for DoIT to download an image for your website.
Images that have been selected from Shutterstock, purchased from a local photographer, or identified as available under creative commons are available for agencies in the shared Google drive.

Pixels: There are many good free photography sites, but with Pixels, their photos' appearance is above the average of standard stock photography. Their images reflect the diversity of people, organizations, and places in our country. The images are licensed under Creative Commons, and attribution is not required.

Please keep in mind that while there are other free resource for photos include pixels and unsplashed, due to these being international collections of photos, be sure that you are selecting a photo that is US based with an Iowa field and avoid images with mountains, oceans, car licenses plates, and traffic signs from other countries. Also, avoid images with text burned or added into them.
