Note: For adding a completely new media item to the Media Library, consult the guidelines on incorporating new media items.

Media files can be replaced, and you have the choice to overwrite them. Therefore, it is advisable to maintain only one version of each media item. Each piece of media is given a unique identification number, which stays linked to that specific item throughout the entire site for effective media management.

Follow these steps to replace or update media items on your agency's site:

Log in to your site

Everyone who writes things on this website has a special title. These titles give them certain abilities, like who can edit, review and publish what. You can ask for a different title or take one away from someone using the user manager.

Navigate to the Media Library

Navigate to the Media Library through two main methods.

  • Option #1: Hover over Content in the top left corner, then over Media, and select Media library.

  • Option #2: Click on Content in the top left corner, then, on the next page, select the Media tab.

Select a media item to update or replace

In the Media Library, choose the asset you wish to edit or replace from the list of media items by selecting the grey Edit button.

From there you can navigate to the remove button to delete the current media file.

After you have the media file removed you will now have the option to choose the new media file you would like this media type to be replaced with

  • ArcGIS Visualization: Embed an ArcGIS map or app on a page easily, just providing the URL.
  • Data & Insights: Embed a Data & Insights widget.
  • Document: A downloadable document, like a Microsoft Word file or PDF.
  • Google Calendar: A Google Calendar from a embed URL.
  • Image: An image to be used in your site.
  • Power BI Visualization: Embed a Power BI visualization on a page using the visualization URL or embed code.
  • Remote Video: An embedded remote video from a site like YouTube or Vimeo.
  • Tableau Visualization: Embed a Tableau visualization on a page easily, just providing the visualization URL.
